How many people want to buy your product?

It's a marketing thing of course.
To know ahead of time how many people want to buy your product? It's possible to know that.

By going to a professional marketing company of course, or doing it yourself.

How?

It's based on a 'trick'. It's name is counting fish in the pond.

How many fish swims in a large pond? Count fish in a hundreds part and multiply that with 100. You have the statistical value.

Same with counting the people who wants to buy your products.

Example of Dramatically Increasing Website Traffic

This trick does not work always, but when it works, it works very well.

A customer has a website about Harry Potter fanfiction. He allows authors write Harry Potter fanfiction and publish it in his website.

I went to a Yahoo user group about Harry Potter, which had thousands of subscribers. The principal of a user group is that you post a message, and everyone subscribed receives it by email.
The only thing I posted was a message about a new fabric, where Harry Potter was forced to be married with three young women.
Five minutes after posting, the hits to the customer website went up with 1000. 20 Minutes later, tens of thousands of hits, and an hour later 500,000 hits. At the end of the day the site got 20 million hits. This trend made the website known to thousands of Internet users.

Difference in Marketing and Sales

Both marketing and sales are closely related with each other. But there are some differences, which are very important.

The most important differences between the two is that marketing shows how to reach (new) customers and sales not.

For small companies, there is no marketing. There is only sales.
If a small company wants to grow, they invest in marketing.

Advertising is not marketing. It's sales. But getting statistics about potential customers is part of marketing. Knowing what potential customers need is also part of marketing.

The marketing helps you with specific, factual information to build a marketing strategy, which leads to increase of sales in short, medium and long term.

If you are interested only in your current customers, then marketing is overkill for you.
If you worry about your business, then marketing is very much needed.
If you are interested in allowing your company to grow, marketing is essential.

The Power of Internet Forums

Internet forums are the places in the Internet, where many people come together, who share common interests. Some of those forums have millions of people online at the same time, discussing or chatting with each other. Those forums are heaven for the marketing person. A salesperson is not welcome there, because those people tend to poison discussions with their statements.

Only one post in such forum, could generate thousands, even millions of visits to your website, if your post is designed correctly.

Tool Increasing Website Traffic

It's greatly a trick, and it does work too, almost in realtime.

You have build a website, which fills a need for many people. By definition, it's a possible popular subject by the Internet masses.

That said, you need to do the following:
1. Submit your site (and each page) to the major search engines.
2. Then you submit each page to the social media.

You submit your pages to the most popular bookmarking social websites, like Facebook, Twitter, Interest, LinkedIn, Google+, Tumblr, Recruit, StumbleUpon, Dogg, MetaFilter, NewsVine, Volkd and similar websites.

You take care that you fill in all the fields correctly, especially the keywords and categories.

Submitting your pages is for short term traffic, and search engines for medium and long term.

Also, description and keywords in your pages, in conjunction with the content of your pages, defines your success.
